Under the supervision of the Dean of the General Education Pathway, to teach college parallel psychology courses and other related courses as assigned. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Only those who meet ALL of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Minimum Educational Requirements: Must have at least ONE of the following:
  • Must have a master's degree or higher in Psychology; OR
  • Master's degree and 18 credits in coursework that is from the Psychology Department from the granting Institution or an Applied Psychology Department.*
*Applied Psychology Departments Include: General Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Development Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology,

Minimum Occupational Experience Requirement:
  • Must have one full semester (or two quarters) of teaching at the college level that includes graduate school teaching assistantship.

Preferred Qualifications in ADDITION to the required minimums listed above:
  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency

  • Online Information Management Systems - e.g. Self Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard Ultra or other web-based course - management systems
  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with social networking applications)


Supplemental Information


Start Date: Currently hiring one full-time Psychology Instructors to support the General Education Pathway. Position start date is August 2025.

Hours: This position is a 1.0 FTE; 32 weekly hours. Hours, location, and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited
Salary: Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2024/2025 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
