Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) is an exempt-professional position reporting to the Director of FSL. This position serves to support Fraternity & Sorority Life which includes general programming, student leader advising, and student involvement efforts for the CU Boulder Fraternity & Sorority Community. The Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life will oversee the advisement of 1-2 governing councils which may include the College Panhellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and/or the university-recognized CU Interfraternity Council. Council assignments will be made based on candidate interest and experience. The position is also responsible for developing educational programming curriculum and coordinating trainings for chapter and community leaders, and chapter advisory boards. The Assistant Director will manage the annual chapter accreditation program, FSL community extension and expansion efforts, and will assist the Director with assessment and strategic planning. Additionally, this person will also directly supervise 1-2 full-time exempt-professional(s). This is a position that interacts with all levels of staff and may work evening and weekend hours.

Fraternity & Sorority Life acts as a communication link and advocate between affiliated Greek organizations and the university, and others that have an interest in the Greek community at CU Boulder. Staff also assist in the implementation of good self-governance and positive leadership development within the Greek community. Fraternity & Sorority Life offers and coordinates a variety of programs, activities and services for members that are designed to ensure quality education and social experiences both inside and outside of the classroom.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Serves as the primary advisor to one of four governing councils (College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council) by attending meetings and providing support on events, programs, and initiatives. Additionally, provide guidance on University, CSI, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and council-related policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison and FSL chapter coach to a portfolio of Recognized Social Greek Organizations (RSGOs) by providing support on events, programs, and initiatives. Additionally, provide guidance on University, CSI, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and council-related policies and procedures and serves as the primary administrator for RSGO annual registrations in partnership with CSI.
  • Supervises one to two Coordinators for Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  • Works with the Fraternity and Sorority Life team to develop and implement educational program(s) curriculum focused on leadership development, harm reduction, hazing prevention, and present FSL educational programs and trainings as needed.
  • Serves as the Extension/Expansion and community growth liaison for all governing councils (College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council) providing support and guidance to organizations returning and/or interested in chartering a chapter.
  • Supports the Director with planning, developing proficiencies, preparing budgets, reviewing policies/procedures, and assessing programs, including the annual chapter accreditation program, chapter self-assessments, and data collection.
  • Represents the needs of students in FSL chapters and councils to campus and community partners through participation on committees, collaborative trainings, and programmatic partnerships that serve to strengthen FSL.
  • Other related duties as assigned including staffing additional department and campus-wide events, representing the FSL community in regional and national forums, and relevant committee work.

This position is an on-campus position and does require occasional evening and weekend hours.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $61,200-$67,000 annually. Onboarding assistance is available within Student Affairs guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
  • 5+ years of professional, job-related experience.

  • Advising and Supporting - addresses the knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to providing advising and support to individuals and groups through direction, feedback, critique, referral, and guidance.
