Job Summary:

The Office of Digital Learning is seeking a Course Developer (term-limited, 1 year, full-time, 1.0 FTE) to assist the campus initiative in elevating the student experience. The Course Developer will report to the Director of Digital Learning and work under the guidance of the Sr Instructional Technologist to assist in the creation, development, and maintenance of high-quality educational courses.

This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in curriculum design, educational technology, and instructional materials creation within a college campus setting. The Course Developer will support the development of engaging, accessible, and effective learning experiences for students across various disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

Educational Technology & Design Activities - 90%
  • Design online course content.
  • In collaboration with ODL partner program faculty members:
    • Assist in the design, development, and organization of course content, including lectures, assignments, quizzes, and multimedia materials.
    • Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to ensure alignment with course objectives, academic standards, and student needs.
    • Evaluate all coursework for appropriate contact hours, collaborating with faculty when necessary to ensure that the content provided meets these parameters.
  • Create and maintain the courses for partner programs.
  • Maintain online courses for partner programs of ODL, assuring that all online coursework is functional and provided on a timely basis.
  • Create and maintain the online course tools and materials, including, but not limited to, course content, grade book, discussion groups, and varying skills activities.
  • Create and maintain the course and program assessment activities for each online course, assuring each assessment supports each program's assessment strategy (examples of this include coordinating CoursEval assessments, tying activities to learning outcomes, etc.).
  • Communicate and collaborate with OIT, our online learning management system provider and educational technology tools, to assure an optimal online environment.
  • Participate in professional development and training activities.
  • Perform additional duties/projects as assigned.

Faculty / Staff Management and Development - 10%
  • Maintain relationships with all ODL partner program faculty members, assisting them with current and any future online course management system(s), and providing general program support.
  • Help integrate technology tools and learning management systems (LMS) to facilitate course delivery. Support faculty with troubleshooting and navigating digital platforms.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of experience working with various instructional technologies and pedagogies, such as audio and video recordings, authoring software, teleconferencing, team-based learning, self-directed learning or comparable substitute.
  • Experience working with Canvas.
  • Experience supporting faculty and students in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with client relationship management and media-development software applications,

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth and broad knowledge of various instructional technologies and pedagogies, such as audio and video recordings, authoring software, teleconferencing, team-based learning, self-directed learning or comparable substitute.
  • Administrative knowledge of course management systems, such as Canvas.
  • Possess a highly professional demeanor.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: $50,803 - $64,621.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
