Bucknell University Small Business Development Center seeks a Client Engagement & Events Coordinator. This role requires strong organizational, communication, customer service and technical skills to enhance client engagement and streamline center operations. It is an ideal position for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and client-focused professional who thrives at the intersection of business support, event coordination and digital marketing while ensuring impactful, well-executed experiences.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position with the Bucknell University Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The SBDC values diversity in its workforce, and all staff contribute to the center's efforts to reach and engage the increasingly diverse clientele of our region. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the SBDC.

The work location for this position is in person, at offices in downtown Lewisburg, as well as periodic travel to sites across the center's six-county service area of central Pennsylvania. This position is funded primarily by grant funds through at least June of 2026, and while SBDC has operated continually at Bucknell with the support of similar grant funds since 1978, this position is contingent upon the continuation of these annual grant awards.

Primary Duties:

Experience Management & Event Execution
  • Collaborate to plan and execute experiences that educate, engage, connect, and inspire small business owners and stakeholders. Manage logistics, budgeting, marketing, and on-site/online execution with staff and student support.
  • Implement post-event strategies to measure effectiveness and continuously improve future experiences.


Marketing and Digital Communications
  • Develop and manage digital marketing campaigns, outreach materials, and content strategies to enhance engagement and brand awareness.
  • Oversee social media platforms, email communications, and AI-driven automation tools to streamline marketing.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging about the SBDC.
  • Continuously assess and integrate emerging technologies, especially AI tools, to optimize communication, client experience, and event impact.


Client Engagement
  • Serve as the first point of contact for small business owners, assessing their needs and directing them to the most appropriate resources, including workshops, consulting services, and digital tools.
  • Collaborate to refine the center's client intake processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and a seamless client journey.
  • Leverage AI and digital tools to enhance client engagement and accessibility.


Administrative Support
  • Provide essential administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with expense reports, timesheets, and student employee support while maintaining general office management functions.
  • Organize scheduling, logistics, and communications for special initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader engagement and event strategies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years professional experience in a client/customer-facing role, or event management, marketing, or related field.
  • Technology & Digital Proficiency: Fluency in, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn AI, automation, and digital tools to improve internal workflows. Support the integration of technology in daily SBDC operations to enhance efficiency.
  • Customer Service: Excellent communication skills; and demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and responsiveness.
  • Travel (limited): Some in-state travel that requires a valid US driver's license, as well as occasional evening and weekend work to meet center objectives


Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in a small business
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to business, marketing, event management, or hospitality.
  • Knowledge of the small businesses, professional services providers, and economic development partners in the Bucknell SBDC service region

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
