Up to 19 hours per week, hours vary based on departmental needs. This is an academic year position which typically runs from mid- August through mid-May.
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, School of Business, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of Real Estate courses. This position requires teaching courses at multiple MATC campuses during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, internet courses, staff development, conduct open labs, student advising, student outcome assessment and program quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned. The instructor selected for this position will be required to keep current with the latest accounting, finance and business trends and technologies.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Educational requirements:
Must have one (1) of the following:
1) Bachelor's degree or higher in any area of study.
{Per Higher Learning Commission Determining Qualified Faculty Assumed Practice B.2.}
Occupational experience:
Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time or equivalent (4,000 hours) occupational experience in Real Estate or related occupation. In addition, one of the following must be met:
1. At least one year must have occurred within the last five (5) years
-OR-
2. Two (2) years of teaching Real Estate courses at the post-secondary level within the last five years.
{One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time - per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3.04}

Licensure:
Ability to qualify for Approval of Real Estate Course Instructor, Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services REEB 25.055(2)(j) requiring one of the of the following must be met:
1. Currently teaching or has been engaged in teaching real estate courses at an accredited institution of higher education
OR
2. Currently properly licensed or certified by the board or other governmental agency who, for at least 5 (five) years continuously, been engaged in the real estate aspects of any of the following:
a. Appraising.
b. Financing.
c. Marketing.
d. Brokerage management.
e. Real property management.
f. Real estate counseling.
g. Real property law.
OR
3. An active licensed member of the Wisconsin state bar engaged in the field of Real Estate related law.

Supplemental Information
This position supports the Business & Management Pathway and is available to start in the Fall semester of 2025.
Hours:
Up to 19 hours weekly, in-person, primarily based out of the West Allis Campus . Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
