New York City Scholars Student Success Manager
About the Opportunity
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
New for Fall 2025, Northeastern students admitted to New York City Scholars will begin their journey at the Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) campus in Manhattan as a cohort of fellow first-year Northeastern students. Located in a vibrant and dynamic neighborhood in NYC, just moments from landmarks such as Central Park and the Guggenheim Museum, the NYC Scholars will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural and academic heart of New York City.
During their first year, students will have access to the variety of cultural institutions, artistic venues, and professional opportunities that define New York City's global influence. In their second year and beyond, NYC Scholars will study on Northeastern's Boston campus and have the opportunity to continue to explore global program offerings.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Global Student Success team, a part of Northeastern's Student Life office, which supports the student experience in the N.U.in and NYC Scholars program, is hiring a Student Success Manager (SSM) to lead the on-site staff of Student Success Coordinators. Balancing responsibilities between Northeastern and MMC, the SSM ensures that students have a cohesive, supportive, and culturally enriching experience, all while maintaining open lines of communication and upholding the standards and values of both educational institutions. On-site staff members focus on creating positive and valuable experiential learning opportunities for NYC students. They support students in their residential experience, academic coursework, navigating and experiencing the region, and through connecting students to Northeastern and MMC support services. The SSM works collaboratively to support the safety and wellbeing of students and contribute to the development and overall success of the students and the program.
This position will begin in July with a mandatory, approximately two-week in-person training program in Boston, MA on Northeastern's campus, followed by additional online training to take place in between the on-site training and departure for New York. Once staff arrive on site, they will undergo additional site-specific training in collaboration with MMC. This is a year-long residential position that ends May 30, 2026. Non-traditional work hours may be required throughout the employment term.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Serve as a liaison with staff and faculty from MMC, Northeastern Student Life, and the Global Experience Office (GEO) through regular meetings and oral and/or written reports. Serve as the point of contact for conduct, health, and wellness concerns.
- Work in partnership with other site leadership, managing and tracking the quality and diversity of academic, social, and cultural programs.
- Encourage student academic success, respond to student concerns, and connect students to on-site and Boston-based academic, medical, and mental health resources.
- Oversee student conduct process.
- Work non-traditional hours as needed, including evenings and weekends, supporting student programming and attending to the safety and wellbeing of students. Accompany students to hospitals and emergency rooms when necessary.
