Communications and Events Manager, Master of Science in Foreign Service Program - Walsh School of Foreign Service

Requirements

The Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit value of service. Father Edmund A. Walsh, S.J.'s vision was a school that would prepare students for all major forms of foreign representation - official and unofficial, governmental and private sector, whether commercial, financial, consular or diplomatic.

The Communications and Events Manager manages communications and events for the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) Program. This position has additional responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee MSFS communications, outreach, and events management related to admissions and recruitment, current students, alumni, donors and advancement, the MSFS Board, and the broader Georgetown community.
  • Manage website and daily social media management, coordinating major academic events (including orientation, graduation, open houses), developing marketing materials, writing and disseminating the weekly internal newsletter, the quarterly alumni newsletter and Board updates.
  • Manage alumni outreach and donor stewardship, handling pother duties as assigned.


Work Interactions

The Communications and Events Manager reports to the Director of MSFS, works closely with other faculty and staff of the MSFS program and other units in the SFS, and supervises student employees.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in event management and communications or closely related experience
  • Proficiency in technologies related to the duties of the position, including social media and marketing
  • Must demonstrate a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required
  • Master's degree and professional experience in higher education and/or international relations preferred

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
