Salary Range: $74,000 - $80,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition in the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, integrates basic, applied and clinical aspects of human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, dietetics, and exercise science. The Department administers degree programs in Human Physiology and Nutrition (BS), Exercise Science (BS), Applied Physiology (MSc), and Nutrition and Dietetics (MSc). Additionally, the Department is responsible for anatomy, physiology and nutrition education across all health-related undergraduate programs (e.g. nursing, pre-medicine, pre-athletic training, pre-physical therapy).

Additionally, the Department is responsible for anatomy, physiology and nutrition education across all health-related undergraduate programs (e.g. nursing, pre-medicine, pre-athletic training, pre-physical therapy).

The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition is housed in the William J Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center (Hybl Center; https://www.hyblcenter.org). This state-of-the-art facility is designed to promote a multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative approach to education, research and clinical practice, driven by teamwork and a passion for translating research into real-world solutions. It promotes the concept of "Exercise and Nutrition as Medicine" for patients with various diseases and/or disorders. This project benefits from a close partnership between UCCS and Common Spirit Health that brings together a unique and unparalleled combination of clinical practice, undergraduate and graduate education, combined with clinical, faculty and student research. Essential Functions

The Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty role that encompasses a range of responsibilities in teaching, research, and service.The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Faculty members are expected to teach 15 credit hours each academic year, including both undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
  • Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students, developing a productive research program with consistent scholarly publications, and actively seeking external funding to support and broaden research initiatives.
  • The position also involves engagement in professional service activities within the university and the wider academic and professional communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with proficiency in English, are essential for this role, which
    requires a commitment to collaborative and collegial behavior in all interactions.
  • This faculty member will play an integral role in advancing the department's goals by fostering academic excellence, impactful research, and a supportive educational environment.

Tentative Search Timeline

Qualifications

  • A PhD or equivalent terminal degree (e.g. ScD, MD, DO) in human physiology, integrative physiology, nutrition, exercise science or closely related field by the start date is required.

  • One or more years post-doctoral research and/or teaching experience, or equivalent experience in industry or clinical practice is preferred.

  • RDN credential is desired if applying to teach nutrition courses.
