The Academic Services Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking a detail-oriented and highly focused Curriculum Database Specialist to join our team. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of curriculum data across multiple platforms. The incumbent will code and maintain new and existing courses and programs in both the Student Information System (SIS) and the Curriculum Management Software, submit curricula to the Chancellor's Curriculum Inventory System, oversee and update the District's annual catalog and addenda, and ensure alignment with institutional and state regulations. Additionally, this position requires attending curriculum-related committee meetings, maintaining precise tracking records for publications and reporting, and participating in state-wide training to stay current on policies, procedures, and best practices. The Curriculum Database Specialist will work closely with deans, department heads, faculty, classified professionals, and other stakeholders to uphold the integrity of curriculum databases and publications.

We seek a highly skilled professional with proficiency in managing multiple technology tools, record-keeping, data entry, and publication development within an academic or administrative setting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and research skills, an exceptional ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, and a keen eye for detail to ensure data accuracy and consistency.   • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications.

Duties


GENERAL PURPOSE

Under direction, plans and coordinates processes and performs complex and responsible work to develop the District's annual catalog and addenda; maintains and updates the master courses and program catalog database, and performs related duties as assigned.



DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Curriculum Database Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining and updating the District's annual courses and programs catalog and master courses and programs catalog database. Work requires a thorough understanding of the District's computer systems and databases and close working relationships with deans, department heads and others to ensure the accuracy of the curriculum database in support of the publication of the annual catalog and addenda. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines.

Curriculum Database Specialist is distinguished from Schedule Specialist in that an incumbent in the latter class has overall responsibility for coordinating and building master class schedules for each semester while an incumbent in the former class is responsible for maintaining and updating the District's course and program catalog database and providing support for curriculum review and reporting processes.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a relevant field; and one (1) year of progressively responsible administrative experience involving academic support, including development of class schedules and associated responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.



Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy. Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
