Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
The Program Assistant will work directly with and reports to the Program Director on all aspects of the NIH-NIAID-funded R25 Research Education Grant to train health science students in the summer research program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Fluent in computer programs, including Adobe Creative suite, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, Google Apps, WordPress, and others as needed
  • Some knowledge of web design to update and maintain the database
  • Adaptable, enthusiastic team player, passion to contribute to a fast-paced thriving organization and educational and training activities
  • Excellent time management and creative thinking
  • Ability to communicate ideas, thoughts and concepts clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally, and properly and accurately recording the facts and the information related to all activities of the R25 program
  • Ability to be responsive to the direction of the Program Director, work with a high degree of independence, and effectively interact with health science students, faculty mentors and research advisors with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a creative, fast-paced, action-oriented and university environment in the R25 educational program


Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree with the knowledge of research compliance and scientific integrity

  • Experience: At least 2 years experience as an office/administrative assistant

Preferred Qualifications
  • Some experience working with students in their well-being, culturally sensitive, and facilitating the achievement of educational, training, and research experience

  • Certification in Microsoft Office tools and computer use for data entry, management and calculations using computerized database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Power Point software, scientific software packages, and updating web and social media content
