This faculty position will provide service to the department, university, and community, produce scholarly work, attend and actively participate in college events, department and division meetings, and college or Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) committees. This position also requires experience and excellence in teaching, academic research, and service consistent with and reflective of a teaching university, upholding professional and ethical standards, along with a commitment to student success.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study in that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals, student teachers, and groups in classrooms by demonstration, discussion, and visual aids while maintaining a student-oriented approach to an engaged learning educational experience. Documents and maintains accurate reports and records student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.

- Participates in scholarly activity including research and presenting at state, national, and international professional conferences.
- Provides service, collaborates, and interfaces with others within the department, college, university, and community by participating on various committees, panels, councils, etc.
- Establishes and maintains office hours and advises students during this time and other times as needed and appropriate. Supports and embodies exceptional care, exceptional accountability, and exceptional results, as well as UVU's Mission. Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Master's degree in a health-related field, current teaching license in the State of Utah. Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in secondary education, and experience mentoring students/new teachers.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in a health-related field, university teaching experience. A demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service consistent with a teaching university is preferred.

- Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques, curriculum development, and evaluation and assessment of instruction.
- Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of current trends in higher education.
- Knowledge of research design.

- Skills in the use of technology that supports student learning, especially related to online platforms such as Canvas.

- Ability to manage, motivate, engage, and evaluate students.

- Ability to multi-task and work independently effectively.
