The Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania invites qualified individual to apply for a faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor) in Medical Oncology in the Clinician Educator (CE) Track. The successful candidate is expected to have history of or potential as an exemplary clinician, educator, researcher and academic leader in their field. Members of faculty in the Clinician Educator (CE) track faculty yearly perform 29 weeks of clinical patient care in the Matthew J Ryan Veterinary Hospital and participate in the clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents. The CE faculty member is expected to contribute to their field through scholarship that brings new knowledge and advances their field.

This candidate will have clinical responsibility for patient care and related teaching, including intern/resident training, and establishing a collaborative or independent clinical research program.

Clinical responsibilities include: management of the clinical caseload, teaching rounds, patient recruitment in clinical trials, and oversight of house officers and nursing staff. Teaching responsibilities include: clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students and house officers and participation in daily case rounds. Scholarly activities including building a collaborative or independent clinical research program and providing research mentorship for oncology residents and specialty interns. Adjacent to the veterinary hospital are three world-class biomedical hospitals and research centers which provide excellent opportunities for collaboration: The Abramson Cancer Center at the Perelman School of Medicine, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Wistar Institute, (www.upenn.edu/life-at-penn). Potential for collaborative research abounds.

The Comprehensive Cancer Care Service within the Department consists of 4 board-certified medical oncologists, 3 board-certified radiation oncologists, 6 medical oncology residents, 1 specialty intern in radiation oncology, and a cadre of supporting soft tissue and minimally invasive surgery, interventional radiology, and diagnostic imaging faculty. The School's Penn Vet Cancer Center provides outstanding access to translational oncology scientists and clinician from across Penn Vet and University.

Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital is Penn Vet's small animal facility, which houses board-certified faculty in virtually every specialty. Capabilities include interventional radiology, minimally-invasive surgery, hemodialysis and plasmapheresis. Imaging modalities include MRI, CT, Doppler ultrasound, and fluoroscopy. Ryan Hospital is situated on Penn's vibrant main campus in Philadelphia, a beautiful historic city with an abundance of cultural resources including music, art, theatres, and fine dining (www.upenn.edu/life-at-penn/philadelphia). Philadelphia offers easy access to New York and Washington DC. Additionally, Wissahickon Valley Park, Valley Forge National Park, and many more are within minutes of the city for the nature enthusiast.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have board-certification or be board-eligible in medical oncology through either the American or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
