Under the supervision of the Dean of the Community Education Division or designee to teach basic Communication courses levels 1-6, to teach GED classes in an accelerated GED program at one of our campus or Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in Milwaukee area.
Desire outcome of these classes: Students are seeking a HSED ( High School Equivalency Diploma) or GED ( A certificate of General Education Development).Grade Level Ranges: students are middle to secondary academic levels
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.
Minimum REQUIRED Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, OR:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in any field with at least 18 credits (undergraduate or graduate) in Mathematics, including at least 12credits at the 200 level or higher. Course subjects to include, but are not limited to:
- Calculus 1, 2, & 3
- Differential Equations
- The Teaching of Mathematics
- History of Mathematics
- Number Theory
- Abstract Algebra
- Complex Numbers
- Topology,
- Combinatorics
- Theory o f Probability
- Statistical Methods
- and other related college math courses.
- AND a minimum of six (6) credits at the100 level undergraduate math, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance.
- Course subjects include, but are not limited to Logic & Problem Solving, Geometry, Elementary Statistics, College Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Trigonometry ,and Pre-calculus.

Minimum REQUIRED Occupational Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year or two (2) full-time semesters of teaching experience within any combination of elementary, secondary, or post-secondary education.
{One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time - per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3.04}

Supplemental Information
Start Date: This position supports the Community Education Division and is available to start teaching in our Spring 2025 semester; approximately mid-January.
Hours/Location: This position is up to a .5 FTE; the number of hours worked per week will vary based on course load and departmental need.
Multiple classes occur at our all MATC campus locations as well as in local City of Milwaukee area community based organizations.
Modality: IN PERSON
Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
