Department Information

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and manages comprehensive social media marketing strategy for assigned Business Services department(s) including but not limited to Campus Services, Community and Professional Education and Financial Aid
2. Develops and collaborates with marketing team to create content ideas in line with overall marketing strategy for promotions, campaigns, events and departmental initiatives
3. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on social media performance using analytics tools to measure the success of campaigns and makes data-driven decisions when posting
4. Engages with followers, responds to comments and messages, and fosters a positive community around the brands of each account
5. Creates content for digital platforms in addition to social media, including video and website content
6. Utilizes basic graphic design skills using tools like Adobe Photoshop or Canva and basic video editing tools such as Capcut, Adobe Premier Pro, and others
7. Stays knowledgeable on the latest social media trends and best practices and makes recommendations for content that aligns with these
8. Manages Business Services content on campus digital signage network (OwlTV)
9. Hires, trains and manages social media student assistants and/or interns and provides regular feedback on the content they create
10. Oversees Campus Services brand ambassador program
11. Partners with departments including Strategic Communications, Enrollment Services and Student Affairs to collaborate on cross-promotional content
12. Attends events after-hours to capture and post real-time content and creates social media highlights after events

Job Summary

Responsible for creating, planning, and implementing an engaging and interactive social media content strategy that enhances the University's reputation. Engages in daily activity on the University's social media channels to advance the school brand, promote events/programs, recruit students, increase community connection to the school, and guide users to the school's website. Ensures communications are aligned with the school's brand messaging and policies.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Creates and follows an editorial calendar and schedule aligning with University's academic calendar to assist with content planning and execution

2. Generates, edits, publishes and shares content (original text, images, video or HTML) that encourages community engagement with the University

3. Assists manager and other department staff with moderating user-generated content (posts, tweets, comments, etc.)

4. Monitors conversations and responds to user-generated comments and questions posted on University accounts

5. Optimizes pages within each platform to increase visibility of University's social content

6. Collaborates with University departments and units to manage reputation, identify key players, coordinate University event coverage, and content sharing/re-purposing through work performed

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field

Required Experience
Two (2) years of social media and/or content creation portfolio experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Experience in video storytelling from concept and shooting to editing

Excellent content creation skills

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
