What We Are Looking For

The Department Chemistry and Biochemistry (Shaw Lab) at Baylor University is seeking to fill two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions. The research will occur at the interface of assistive technology and biochemistry and will involve the development of assistive technology and interventions to make lab environments accessible to people with disabilities, including blindness/low vision. This will include direct application by the use of these assistive technologies to carry out biochemical/biophysical research (RNA acetylation, bioinorganic chemistry, protein misfolding) with people who have diverse abilities.   • Ph.D. in chemistry, computer science, or related field is required.
  • Direct experience in the fields of assistive technology or biochemistry is not required.

What You Will Do
  • Carry out all aspects of research including design of experiments, conducting experiments and collecting data.
  • Provide assistance with the preparation of project-related reports, manuscripts and presentations
  • Develop and establish experimental procedures
  • Analyze data and prepare reports; develop recommendations based on results
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of data
  • Work with highly technical and complex research instruments
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
