Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the education and engagement (outreach) programs for the McAninch Arts Center. Design programs that are targeted towards school age children and teens, College of DuPage students, adult learners, and underserved groups throughout DuPage County.

  • Develop a comprehensive education and engagement program that connects touring artists with audiences and groups in need of service.
  • Develop programs with each resident ensemble and the Gahlberg Gallery that engage target groups.
  • Coordinate and manage each education/engagement program from development to implementation, through assessment.
  • Move the Arts Center engagement programs beyond the brief one time encounter to engagements that can be sustained and provide time for reflection and multiple learning and experience opportunities.
  • Serve as liaison between Arts Center and area school districts and community groups.
  • Foster interdisciplinary and interdepartmental participation in the arts throughout the College of DuPage community.
  • Establish and develop a teaching artist program that serves targeted groups.
  • Assist the Arts Center Director in programming artists that provde engagement opportunities.
  • Assist the Arts Center Director in programming the School to Stage Series so that it may meet targeted school engagement needs and specific school curricular demands.
  • Supervise the operation of the School to Stage program with the Arts Center administrative assistant.
  • Assist the Marketing Department as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's Degree required.
      • Specialty course work in Arts or Education related area preferred.
    • Experience
      • 3-5 years of experience in community outreach facilitating a comprehensive community engagement program(s) required.
      • Proficient in speaking and written English required.
      • 2 years of management or supervisory experience in arts education and outreach preferred.


  • Computer (Excel, Word, Database programs, e-mail) and office machines.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Maintain regular office hours, available for staff and community calls, regular and frequent interaction with community and educational organizations, travel within district, some evenings and weekend work required.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


  • Pay Grade:
    Classified 13 Salary

    Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
