Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a

Resource Specialist I: Skills Development (Spanish Bilingual)
position. This is a full-time, classified, non-exempt, and benefits-eligible position. OVERVIEW

The Resource Specialist I provides comprehensive support within the established policies and procedures under routine supervision. This role requires knowledge and independent problem-solving, but with a narrow scope than the Resource Specialist II, who handles more complex tasks and operates with greater autonomy.

PURPOSE OF POSITION


  • Provide enrollment and advising services to individuals seeking placement options within the GED, Spanish GED, and Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs.

  • Greet visitors and serve as an information resource.

  • Facilitate all aspects of intake, orientation, registration, and testing. Administer skills assessments, enter student data, and accurately track information on spreadsheets for department use and for grant compliance purposes.

  • Provide students with referrals for internal and/or external resources as needed to aid in retention, completion and transition-to-college goals.

  • Provide administrative support functions in support of the Skills development Department.

  • Serve as an information resource and teaching assistant specialist for Department programs.

  • Manage computer lab operations, assist students with coursework and curricular questions; and provide tutoring, computer assistance and referrals to internal and/or external resources as needed.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Resource Support (30%)
  • Provide information about college resources such as Tutoring, Registration, Business Office, Financial Aid, Basic Needs, STEP, C-Tec Youth Services, and Disability Resource Center
  • Organize and maintain student files and records as dictated by office procedures and developed in consultation with the Director of Adult Education.
  • Spanish translation support to Spanish GED students.
  • Help students navigate class locations, college systems, technology platforms, and various instructional support services.
  • Schedule and administer placement tests: CASAS Goals Testing, GED testing.
  • Manage all aspects of student intake, orientation, registration, testing, and onboarding.
  • Ensure students take appropriate classes based on their test scores and advise them accordingly.
  • Help students access GED Ready practice test vouchers and official GED test vouchers.
  • Collaborate with Grad Services on student records and transcripts. Collect mandated student releases or referrals, IEP's if needed, and any other relevant documentation. Monitor, maintain, and respond to all contact between high school/district personnel, CCC personnel, and parents regarding students (as applicable).
  • Process paper registration forms from outreach sites such as the Clackamas County Jail and the Transition Center. Produce enrollment data and promote consistency for enrollment practices across locations


2. Customer Service (25%)
  • Answer telephone calls and emails, schedule appointments with students, and respond to drop-in visitors.
  • Assist students with navigating college processes such as registration, adding/dropping classes, paying their bill, accessing college forms. Guide students to other campus departments as needed.
  • Schedule testing appointments with students and communicate with the Testing Center regularly.
  • Contact other departments, partner agencies, and the onsite Benefits Navigator to make referrals based on students' needs.
  • Follow up with students who have stopped attending to encourage re-enrollment; reach out to students who have a tuition balance and facilitate waivers as needed.
  • Support students' transition from GED to college classes by assisting them in accessing the Career Center, Advising, WorkSource, etc. so that students may persist in their education.


3. Clerical Support (25%)
  • Perform clerical office tasks, such as copying and scanning documents, filing, etc.
  • Keep accurate student records, enter data, and maintain spreadsheets, both for department purposes and to ensure compliance deliverables are tracked.
  • Assist instructors with various requests.
  • Utilize departmental systems such as fee waivers, online-class intake questionnaires, and Title II attendance roll sheets.
  • Maintain class/program waitlists and communicate to prospective students about their waitlist status as necessary.


4. Data Entry (20%)
  • Track student demographic information and other intake information on GED spreadsheets.
  • Register students and create records in Colleague.
  • Add/ drop students' classes as needed.
  • Enter students' test score results each term.
  • Administer student evaluations.


GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
  • Participate in college committees when requested.
  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).


Qualifications



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in a related field AND at least 1-year of directly related work experience OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic programs and procedures; high school graduation requirements and GED testing policies/procedures; education options for at-risk youth and adults
  • Demonstrated experience with software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database, email and web-based tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Individual Education Plans, FERPA requirements, state and federal government requirements, and procedures for children attending school.

Terms of Employment

  • This position will be eligible to work remotely up to (2) days per week in accordance with the CCC policy.
  • All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college and requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
  • CCC employees must reside within 50 miles of Oregon City, Harmony or Wilsonville campus as a condition of employment.
