Assistant Athletics Director

The Assistant Athletics Director will assist with the administration of the intercollegiate athletic program, intramurals, recreation and game day management at Massasoit Community College.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Assist the Athletics Director to develop and establish goals to ensure athletic programs are consistent with institutional and department priorities.
  • Assist with supervising coaching staff, part-time employees and interns.
  • Oversee and hire all work-study students and student employees.
  • Assist with game day management by scheduling games and preparing contracts, securing officials, preparing fields and courts for games and practices.
  • Assist with scheduling facilities for intercollegiate, intramural, and community athletics as well as coordinate with the Facilities Department on maintaining building and fields.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager in determining athletic supplies and equipment needs and to assist with collecting gear following the season.
  • Contribute to writing, editing, and producing press releases, recaps, updating information, to be shared on Massasoit's Athletics website - www.MassasoitCCWarriors.com
  • Post and promote athletics through social media platforms - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Assist in completing and filing compliance reports for all Massasoit sport teams.
  • Assist as a resource and advocate for student-athletes with other departments on campus.
  • Assist with Athletics Orientations and student-athlete concussion testing/informational sessions
  • Monitor class attendance of student-athletes.
  • Promote the athletic program and assist coaches with recruiting, tracking potential student athletes, and helping students to develop an academic plan.
  • Assist with travel plans for all teams.
  • Develop, promote, and coordinate physical activities for the college.
  • Keep statistics for teams when needed and help with maintaining athletics archives
  • Establish and maintain active communication with all appropriate campus and college offices in order to promote the integration of athletics into the broader educational mission of the college.
  • Assist with invoices, quotes, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders for the department.
  • Represent Massasoit CC at professional conferences and meetings related to athletics, tournaments, Open Houses, etc.
  • Manage all aspects of pool operations, including general maintenance, enforcement of procedures and protocols, scheduling for on-and-off campus groups, hiring and supervising lifeguards, and ordering necessary supplies.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certification in poll maintenance within reasonable time from start date
  • Experience assisting in fundraising events such as golf tournaments, banquets, etc.
  • Develop and oversee summer sports program
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's preferred, in Sports Management or related field.
  • Three-plus years employment experience in a college athletics department.
  • Familiarity with sports statistics, athletics website providers such as PrestoSports and video filming services such as HUDL.
  • Experience promoting and posting on social media platforms - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Sport Management or related field.
  • Pool maintenance experience.
  • College coaching experience.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Banner and Argos reports.
  • Proficiency in oral and written expression.
  • Proficiency using databases and spreadsheets.


Additional Information:
Position Status: Non-unit Professional, full-time state funded with benefits.

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: $77,259 - $100,437 Commensurate with education and experience.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
