Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking an experienced ERP Application Engineer II to drive the strategic and operational excellence of the university's ERP platform and related enterprise applications. In this role, you will act as a technical product owner and subject matter expert for a major ERP area, managing cross-divisional projects and configuring ERP modules to streamline business processes. With responsibilities ranging from developing and maintaining enterprise software to creating integrations, APIs, and custom solutions, this position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as PL/SQL, JavaScript, Python, and modern frameworks like Vue.js and React. Summary of Responsibilities


  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve incidents. Fix, enhance, and administer existing enterprise applications and ERP integrations. Assist in implementing new software solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the ERP and related software. Translate customer and business needs into technical requirements and coordinate with engineering and functional teams to implement SaaS-safe solutions. Convey the product vision by understanding and translating business practices into working solutions. Follow test plans and coordinate testing with the functional users on new software development and integrations of the ERP and/or enterprise applications.
  • Analyze user needs and align ERP solutions with business strategies. Research technical aspects, existing functionalities, and user patterns to develop functional and technical specifications. Utilize available tools to address customer and business needs with technical proficiency and creativity.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support business processes improvement and adoption of ERP and enterprise application standards. Mentor less experienced Application Engineers. Cross train in multiple modules of the ERP to provide increased support.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and customers using strong communication skills. Communicate with Digital Transformation, business individuals, and other teams at all levels, including describing complex problems in a non-technical manner. Help the university accomplish its mission by completing other duties as needed. Write technical documentation that covers your assigned area of the ERP.
  • Keep current on product release roadmap and upcoming product releases for the ERP. Research and analyze upgrades and new modules as they are released. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, providing updates on enhancements, defect fixes, and other relevant changes. Follow test plans and coordinate testing with the functional users on those upgrades. Coordinate with team members and technical users to ensure product upgrades are deployed with a high level of accuracy and reliability.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in related field plus three years of experience related; OR Associate's degree in related field plus five years of experience related to the essential functions/duties of the position OR any combination of higher education and experience directly related to the essential functions/duties totaling seven years.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge
  • Functional and technical subject matter expert in assigned primary ERP area.
  • Extensive knowledge of relational database concepts including SQL, data modeling, and leveraging of existing APIs.
  • Familiarity with system engineering concepts.
  • Knowledge of functional business processes to guide strategic recommendations on the use of ERP features, SaaS-safe integration of third-party solutions, or utilization of custom in-house development.
  • Knowledge of project management and experience with requirements gathering to efficiently translate business ideas into functional requirements or user stories
Skills
  • Business analysis, business knowledge, business change management, and functional architecture design.
  • Intermediate systems administration skills including Linux, shell scripting, and Kubernetes.
  • Intermediate skills in programming and software engineering.
  • Intermediate skills in creation of test plans and test automation.
  • Technical writing and documentation.

Abilities
  • Ability to code new software solutions, fixes, and enhancements using PL/SQL, JavaScript, Python and other programming languages.
  • Ability to work with Oracle, MySQL, and other databases.
  • Ability to use programming libraries and frameworks like Vue.js, React, and Node.
  • Ability to learn new programming languages, libraries, development frameworks and other technology used in systems for which the department has responsibility.
  • Ability to develop significant production software solutions using tools in the ERP development ecosystem.
  • Ability to implement and configure new ERP submodules and major feature sets.
  • Ability to lead cross-divisional projects involving external vendors and consultants.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and exercise effective interpersonal, problem-solving, team-oriented, and decision-making skills where a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Ability to resolve problems by thinking logically, identifying tasks, and coordinating with functional and technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to change.
