The Child Development Centers and Learning of the Long Beach Community College District are seeking highly qualified individuals for a current opportunity as a Child Care Assistant! This individual will be responsible for providing care, guidance and developmentally appropriate learning and socialization experiences for toddler and/or preschool-aged children to encourage and facilitate positive social and cognitive learning; and performs related duties as assigned. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines. We are looking for someone who has obtained graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Additionally, this candidate must have a completion of twelve (12) semester units in child growth and development, human growth and development, child family and community, or child development/early childhood education courses from an accredited college and a minimum of 25 days experience of three-plus (3+) hours per day within 2 years; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of a Child Development Center Teacher or Associate Teacher, assist in providing care, guidance and developmentally appropriate learning and socialization experiences for toddler and/or preschool-aged children to encourage and facilitate positive social and cognitive learning; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent; and completion twelve (12) semester units in child growth and development, human growth and development, child family and community, or child development/early childhood education courses from an accredited college and a minimum of 25 days experience of three-plus (3+) hours per day within 2 years; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
- A Livescan showing cleared fingerprints through Community Care Licensing (If you do not already have clearance from Community Care Licensing, you are responsible to get fingerprinted; CDC's will provide paperwork and instructions.)
- Copy of Child Development Permit (if applicable)
- A photo ID
- A negative TB test, administered within the past 6 months
- Proof of having received the MMR vaccine or immunity to Measles (Titers)
- Proof of having received the Pertussis/TDAP vaccine within the past 10 years
- Proof of having received the Influenza vaccine OR a signed waiver opting out (provided by LBCC)
- Copy of current CPR/First-aid training (if applicable)
- Certificate of completion of California Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Online Training for General Training (4 hours) and Child Care Provider (3 hours)
- Certificate of completion in compliance with Healthy Schools Act Best Pest Management Practices Around Children (ADVANCED)
- May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
