Position Information
Hiring Department: Student Engagement and Leadership Center
Posting End Date: Open until filled.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $46,550 Annually

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.
Purpose of Position
Essential Functions
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and Colleges in developing, leading and assessing leadership development programs/activities for university student population.
- Oversee the continuous development and implementation of the Miners Leadership Initiative whose goal is to educate and enhance student leadership skills.
- Manages the Distinguished Leadership Speaker Series, which spotlights groundbreaking and thought-provoking off campus leaders while having them engage with UTEP students through a variety of captivating talks and discussions.
- Create a leadership development model, vision and/or plan for the department that outlines programs, events, and opportunities for students to participate in throughout their experience at UTEP utilizing relevant and applicable concepts.
- Support with the creation and assessment of learning outcomes to measure program effectiveness, knowledge acquisition, and progress of students' leadership development.
- Leads the committees for both Miners Leadership Summit and Leadership Awards which are held every spring.
- Serve as primary advisor to the National Society of Leadership and Success chapter.
- Serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
- Serve on division and campus-wide committees.
- Will be required to participate in university wide events such as Texas Western Gold Rush, Minerpalooza, Orange & Blue Day, Commencement, and Project Move with advance notice.
- Must be available for evening and weekend work as required. Some travel may be required.
- Understands the department's role in accomplishing the University's mission.
- Acts as a liaison between the department and internal and/or external customers.
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
- Complies with all State and University policies.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
and
Experience: Three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of professional experience working in higher education or related field in education and related to the statement of duties and responsibilities (or equivalent combination of education and experience); knowledge of student development theory; knowledge of leadership education curriculum; knowledge of peer to peer mentoring models; demonstrated experience working with student organizations and program development; Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
