The Environ. Services - Admin Department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time (.80 FTE) Safety & Compliance Coordinator position. This position supports Safety and Compliance for the University. This position assists in ensuring regulatory compliance campus wide.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Assist in the management of hazardous waste, biohazardous waste, and electronic waste programs across campus with responsibilities including but not limited to: communications and policy enforcements, management of waste pickups, handling, disposal, and participation in cross functional meetings for continuous improvement of the program.
  • Assist in campus wide health and safety inspections including: OSHA, fire safety and ADA compliance and laboratory.
  • Assist in safety specific training for facilities including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, fall protection, Bloodborne Pathogens and MN Employee Right-to-Know. This includes assisting in coordination and management of the associated programs.-Organize and provide fit testing for students, staff and faculty when needed/directed.
  • Assist with ergonomic assessments.
  • Assist in performing quarterly fire drills, under the Safety and Compliance Manager.
  • Take minutes for Safety Committee meetings. Schedule and inform attendees.
  • Work directly with contractors and regulatory agencies to ensure timely completion of work and projects. This includes scheduling of annual and ongoing fire safety inspections, and elevator safety projects.
  • Office and clerical tasks including: Communication by email or phone with internal and external community, treating people with respect and dignity to promote exceptional service and multicultural understanding. Data entry, filing and document/spreadsheet creation, Coordinate and prioritize Safety and Compliance requests with Manager, Facilities and Public Safety . Assist in coordination of safety related to projects, repairs and renovations. Respond to new or changing priorities. Collaborate with University to ensure communication of those projects. Organize daily goals and prioritize daily projects. Devise creative and effective procedures to organize and Safety and Compliance office.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience using math accurately and efficiently
  • Experience using the Google and Microsoft suite of programs including Google Drive, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Willingness to learn and master new and various facility management software tools


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two Years of professional experience
  • Experience working on a college or university campus
  • Experience working in safety and compliance
  • Ergonomics certification for ergonomic assessments
  • Fit Testing Certified / Training
  • Knowledge of Fire Systems (Notifier Brand) to assist with contractor work
  • Knowledge of or experience with one or more of the following: Building Codes, Fire Life Safety Codes, Accessibility Codes, OSHA standards, Construction Projects, Hazardous Materials, Waste Management.
