Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Department of Geography and Anthropology offers a diverse range of programs including degrees in Anthropology, Geography, and Geospatial Sciences, minors in Anthropology, Environmental Studies, and Geography, and certificates in Geographic Information Sciences and Land Surveying. Our faculty conduct research on space and culture in our community and around the globe. They are passionate about teaching and researching with undergraduates. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track, Limited Term Instructor or Limited Term Assistant Professor of Geography faculty positions in the Department of Geography and Anthropology that begins January 2024. Position start date has been updated.
Responsibilities
- Teaching general education undergraduate courses in physical geography (GEOG 1110: The Digital Earth; GEOG 1112K: Introduction to Weather and Climate; GEOG 1113K: Introduction to Landforms)
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Instructor Level
- Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a discipline related to Geography or a closely related discipline is required.
OR
- A Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required.
Assistant Professor Level
- A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Geography or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience and/or demonstrable potential for effective teaching
- Evidence or demonstrable potential of teaching and working with culturally and ethnically diverse communities
- Willingness to teach in face-to-face modality as well as online and hybrid as needed
- Record of past teaching or demonstrable potential to teach physical geography to undergraduates
- Ability to teach introductory level geospatial science courses including Introduction to GIS
