WPI is seeking applicants for a full-time non-tenure track faculty member in the area of aerospace engineering. WPI operates on four 7-week terms. This 9-month position starts in August 2017 for one year initially. After demonstrating quality performance and successful completion of the assigned teaching responsibilities, multiple-year contract may be arranged

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to teach for the Aerospace Engineering Program a maximum of six, seven-week courses per academic year. Courses at the undergraduate level include Incompressible Fluids, Rocket Propulsion, Gas Turbines for Propulsion and Power Generation. Courses at the graduate level include Airbreathing Propulsion, Turbomachinery, and Aeroelasticity. The successful candidate could also advise Major Qualifying Projects for Aerospace Engineering majors, co-advise graduate students in the BS/MS, MS or Ph.D. program in Aerospace Engineering, and participate in research proposal submission. The successful candidate will also participate to faculty activities such as course and laboratory development as assigned by the AE Program Director.

Position Requirements

A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field is required. The successful candidate should have university-level teaching experience in courses covering the general aerodynamics and propulsion areas.
