PAWS Coordinator/Athletic Academic Counselor

The University of Memphis, a Division I member of the NCAA and American Athletic Conference, is seeking a PAWS (Preparing Athletes for Winning Success) Coordinator/Athletic Academic Counselor. Under the general supervision of the Director of the Center for Athletic Academic Services, the PAWS Coordinator/Athletic Academic Counselor is responsible for counseling student-athletes in regards to personal and career development; coordinating and developing student-athlete development seminars, special events, community service projects, and guest speakers; teaching UNIV 4380 Preparing to Become a Professional; coordinating and serving as Advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee; and coordinating postgraduate scholarship and academic award nominations for student-athletes. The PAWS Coordinator/Athletic Academic Counselor will also serve as an academic advisor to assigned teams/student-athletes.

Required Qualifications: Masters degree and one year experience working directly with student athletes is required. Must be able to comply with Athletic department, University, TBR, conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications: The department is especially interested in applicants who have experience assisting with Life Skills and/or Student-Athlete Development programming with student-athletes, as well as those who are active members of the National Association of Academic Advisors in Athletics (N4A). Athletic Compliance is a must.
