Development Research Analyst - AA/S EX I

Salary:

AA/S EX I: Salary Range: $3,897 - $5,847 per month
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,897 - $4,583 per month

Note: This full-time temporary appointment will expire on or before one year from the date of hire. This position is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, sick leave, etc.

Overview:

The Research Analyst leads and manages all aspects of the Prospect Research office to provide research services to the development offices of the various schools and colleges on the Fresno State campus, as well as the offices of the President and the Vice President for University Advancement, and additional offices/units including Corporate and Foundation Relations, Planned Giving, Athletics, and the Alumni Association.

Position Summary:

• Prospect Identification: Develop and direct procedures for systematically identifying and evaluating sources of private support from individuals, foundations, and corporations, including potential contacts through alumni, board members, and community supporters.
• Lead staff by giving work assignments; providing on-the-job training for assigned duties; attempting to resolve workflow or procedural conflicts; providing input to the appropriate administrator on the employees job performance. Lead workers are not responsible for administering discipline or responding to grievances.
• Reports and Information: Provide timely, relevant reports, profiles, and other pertinent donor/prospect information such as financial capacity, potential for philanthropic support, and University affiliations.
• Resource Utilization: Identify and coordinate outside vendors in the implementation of prospect discovery resources and services.
• Strategic and Budgetary Planning: Develop and implement strategic and budgetary plans for Prospect Research that support Fresno State's fundraising objectives.
• Staff Orientation: Provide orientation regarding research services and procedures to new development staff.
• Publications: Review daily, weekly, and monthly publications to uncover timely information about alumni, donors, and prospects. Document and disseminate information effectively.
• Industry Developments: Stay abreast of developments in Research by communicating with other researchers, attending conferences and training sessions, and taking advantage of online learning opportunities.
• Automated Research: Manage automated research and review notification processes at appropriate intervals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• High level of proficiency in standard computer applications as well as complex relational databases, including extraction of data, information review, and storage.
• Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, oral and written. - Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Keen understanding of philanthropy (mission, practice, trends) and fundraising practices (the development cycle, prospect management policies and practices, database management).
• Skill in analyzing financial and statistical information.
• Strong ethics and ability to handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity and good judgment.
• A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations.

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
• A minimum of three years experience and proven record of achievement in development or similar research.

Specialized Skills:

• Strong experience in proactive prospecting methodologies, concepts, and strategies to cultivate and secure prospects.
• Working knowledge of wealth screening, data mining, and/or predictive modeling.

Preferred Skills:

• Preferred experience working in a nonprofit organization or in higher education.
• Preferred experience with Ellucian Advance Web database and campus applications.
