The director of marketing communications reports to the executive director of marketing and public relations. The director will develop integrated marketing communications programs in support of the university’s recruitment objectives for new and transfer students. The director will be responsible for developing ROI-driven campaigns within the organization. Responsibilities include media relations, crisis communications, direct marketing, social media programs and content marketing to strengthen and support the university’s brand reputation.


The person in this position will also support the university’s signature events as well as other local events as needed. The director must be able to lead a small team and work in a dynamic environment, demonstrating leadership that ensures a best-in-class marketing communications function that supports admission and recruiting in key geographic markets.


Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree

- Marketing communications professional with seven-10 years experience

- Experience managing the writing, editing and developing of digital and printed materials as well as managing outside agency resources

- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to executives and a variety of audiences

– Ability to give concise, compelling verbal presentations to senior decision-makers and respond quickly and thoughtfully to challenges and pushback in a meeting situation

- Strong partnering skills with a focus on business unit satisfaction

- Strong understanding of how an integrated approach of earned, owned and paid media work to drive demand while supporting SCAD’s brand reputation

- Ability to measure and report on results of programs using analytics as well as original and secondary research

- Experience managing a team
