Working Title: Office Assistant 2-Proj Police Services

Job Summary/Essential Functions: Please note: This is a 50% time project position with expected duration of 12 months. This position will work 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-1pm. Under general direction, this position performs variety of routine clerical duties such as responding to routine inquiries about the EWU Police Department services and procedures; receives and refers visitors; answer and transfer telephone calls to appropriate officer or dispatch; sorts, files, and organizes police reports, citations, and other EWU Police Department documents and records; non-criminal fingerprinting for EWU students and school district employees; receives and distributes messages, mail, and other office materials.

Conditions of Employment:

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt or, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check for continued employment.

Due to sensitive documents and information, successful applicant will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Services level background check for employment.

This is an agency shop position.

Minimum Qualifications:

-High School Graduate or GED

Specific Position Requirements

-Two years clerical experience

-Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Records Management Systems

-Demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.

-Professional level computer and phone skills.

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-Strong organizational skills.

-Demonstrate the ability to function in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

-Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Associates Degree
