Purpose:
The Senior Technical Analyst ensures data integrity regarding the Student Records Module in PeopleSoft (PS)/Oracle, manages the Analysis Database in PeopleSoft, provides analysis and reporting, manages the academic portion scheduling software in order to classroom and final exam scheduling, ensures integrity of public queries used by University community, teaches the use of Query Tool in PS, and maintains Office of the Registrar's website.

I. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
A. Research and Analysis 60%
1. Independently researches and analyzes data for key administrators regarding student data
2. Independently researches and analyzes data for provost, deans, department chairs regarding curriculum
3. Designs, generates, and produces standard analytical reports using PeopleSoft/Oracle,
4. Microsoft Access, XML and other query tools thereby producing quarterly and ad hoc reports
5. Applies statistical techniques to data to support the work of the Office of the Registrar
6. Fully understands how to program the Academic Advising Tool (degree audit)
7. Responsible for the Analysis Database (part of PeopleSoft/Oracle), provides upon request analysis of data forecasting curricular needs that must be addressed at provost, dean and chair level
8. Produces eligibility reports upon request for the Athletics Department regarding NCAA compliance
9. Maintains Office of the Registrar?s website in accordance University policy
10. Maintains public queries used by University community
11. Provides classes for administrative assistants and graduate records staff on how to use the PeopleSoft Query Tool
12. Serves as liaison between Office of the Registrar and IT departments to ensure that all system related matters are understood and resolved
13. Ensures integrity of the Consolidated Statistics data
14. Ensures release of reports required by National Student Loan Clearinghouse (works with Data Analyst)
15. Works with Data Analyst regarding classroom assignments

B. Data Integrity 20%
1. Meets with Schools and Colleges administrators as needed to determine PeopleSoft academic structure requirements
2. Dispatches bi-monthly queries checking transactional data to ensure integrity is maintained in PeopleSoft
3. Works with Graduate Records and Office of Registrar staff regarding quality of data stored in PeopleSoft

C. Software 15%
1. Works with the Senior Business Analyst in IT who manages scheduling software used for classroom and final exam scheduling
2. Fully understands the following: Excel, Access, XML, SQL, Crystal Reports, databases and other the software tools (i.e., statistical)
3. Provides training in the use of desktop tools and functional systems (PeopleSoft/Oracle HERPD Modules), also provides training documentation
4. Coordinates with IT for all testing requirements (e.g. patches, fixes) and other desktop support, also provides training for HEPRD and other testing environments

D. Special Projects .5%
1. Works on special projects to be determined by the University Registrar

II. Qualifications
A. Bachelor's degree required, preferred major in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field
B. Preferred Master?s degree, higher education experience and/or experience working in a Registrar's Office
C. Significant related work experience, in depth knowledge of database management, research design, knowledge of XML, SQL, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
D. Preferred experience with PeopleSoft/Oracle or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning System
E. Preferred experience using PeopleSoft/Oracle query tool
F. Familiarity with standard statistical techniques for social science research and experience using statistical methods to analyze data
G. Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate complex data
H. Demonstrated writing skills
I. Effective communication skills
J. Ability to manage multiple priorities
K. Ability to work independently
L. Strong organizational skills
M. Ability to work effectively with a diverse constituency
N. A commitment to liberal arts education and cultural diversity
