Assistant Professor, Business (Business Law/Real Estate)


Location: Mesa College

Pay Information

10 Month Contract Position

The salary range for this Assistant Professor level position is $4,592 – $6,188 per month. Note that all new faculty hired by the SDCCD start at the Assistant Professor level. The highest monthly base starting salary would be $6,188 with a PhD and six or more years of full-time teaching experience. Overload assignments are paid at an hourly rate above this amount. Salary placement is based solely upon education and experience as outlined in the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement, and it is non-negotiable. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made on the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, will be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Assistant Professors may earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.

With promotions through Associate and Professor levels based upon mastery in the field, teaching of that knowledge, a PhD or equivalent, successful evaluations and tenure track experience, the top range would be $10,596. Applications are now being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor, Business [Business Law/Real Estate] at San Diego Mesa College for an assignment beginning Spring, 2014. Mesa College is located in the Kearny Mesa area of the city of San Diego. This assignment may include day, evening and/or Saturday classes. In addition, this pool may be used to fill identical vacancies that may occur during the 2013-2014 academic year.

Major Responsibilities

• Knowledge and experience in teaching lower division/community college level students and commitment to maintaining college standards.
• Knowledge, experience and/or academic preparation to teach lower division/community college level subject matter included in business curricula (i.e., introduction to business, business communications, business law, business management and real estate)
• Professional work experience in the field of Business Law and/or Real Estate including demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
• Proficiency and experience in developing, delivering, and communicating business education in the classroom and online.
• Evidence of collaboration with industry community, and/or professional organizations on curriculum and partnership development.
• Demonstrated experience using real estate software currently employed in industry.
• Ability to relate to and work with a diverse cultural and ethnic population.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions

Master’s degree in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education; OR,

Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctorate (J.D.)or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) degree; OR,

Bachelor’s degree in economics with a business emphasis AND Master’s degree in personnel management, public administration, or J.D. or LL.B.; OR,

The documented equivalent; OR,

Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential in Business and Industrial Management (valid for life)
